Introduction

Grade 23(Ti-6AI-4V-ELI)is a titanium grade alloy alloyed with aluminum and vanadium specifically designed for additive manufacturing (according to ASTM F3001-14) and hot isostatic pressing (HIP). This grade is characterized by high strength, good corrosion resistance and low density. It belongs to Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5), but has lower oxygen, nitrogen and iron content, making it more ductile.Ti-6Al-4V-ELI is commonly used in medical home appliances as well as aerospace and chemical processing applications. Like Grade 5 titanium, Grade 23 titanium alloy is more resistant to fatigue, salt water fatigue and corrosion, and is more resistant to microcracking than Grade 5 titanium.High ductility, excellent toughness and corrosion resistance in air and salt water environments. It is also used in non-aging conditions and may have greater toughness.
